Anyone else love Pottery Barn or Restoration Hardware but maybe not the price tag? I always seem to be drawn to all those amazing decor pieces that have the expensive price to go along with them! One of my favorites are their variety of mercury glass mirrors. So I was excited when I found a hack to get that same look of their mercury glass mirrors without the high price! I needed to share this easy DIY with you because I love how it turned out! So if you love the look of these high-end mirrors, then keep reading for the step by step tutorial on how to make this faux mercury glass mirror for a fraction of the cost! What is mercury glass? Mercury glass, also known as silvered glass, in reality, contains neither mercury or silver! It actually is composed of two panes of glass with a silvering…

Let’s be brutally honest here for a second, shall we?? I love DIY projects….but I can’t stand sanding! I will do anything to avoid sanding, and many a time, I have paid the price for skimping on this step. So when I found a paint that doesn’t require a ton of prep, you can bet I needed to give it a try! This paint is the perfect way to update a piece of furniture that is in need of a face-lift without the time commitment required by most other paints! Craft room work area I am all about functionality over the actual size of a house. Personally, I would prefer to have the perfect layout and rooms that fit my families needs and interests, rather than just a huge house. So I was thrilled about the fact that our home has a large space downstairs for us to do projects!…

I love chalkboards and the variety of uses they have! From providing a place to hang your kiddo’s artwork, hanging those holiday cards or creating a responsibility chart for your kids….they are a do it all item! We have been working on creating an under the stairs playhouse for our kids over the last year. Finally, we have reached the point that we are getting to decorate it with them. Apparently, we aren’t moving fast enough, because I went in the other day to hang up these awesome globe lights, and found that my four-year-old had turned the walls and ceiling into her canvas. There were marker drawings everywhere. She said it was too “boring” in there and so she “decorated” it. So I decided it was time to get something in there for them to draw on and decorate, rather than the walls 🙂 You can buy a chalkboard…

Most projects involve some sort of prep work having to deal with wood unless you are buying a ready cut design of wood from a place like Hobby Lobby. Usually I’ve just written the hubby do list, he does all “this work” and then I do the finish work. However, since his hours and available times for projects are less than mine, and let’s face it; I’m not patient when it comes to getting projects done. I asked him to walk me through how to do some of these initial steps. I’m writing them down not only in the hopes that they might help you simplify your project process but so that I don’t forget with my mama brain and have a reference to refer back to 🙂 Where to start You want to attempt to do a project, but don’t know quite where to start? Sand with what? What…

Anyone else spend more time than they care to admit in their laundry room? I know I do! Bottomless laundry bin I swear, I just will get to the bottom of the basket (you know that amazing feeling when you can actually see the bottom?!?), and suddenly it’s full again! Yes, I’ve read the sayings about dishes to do, means food on the table. And so laundry piles mean clothes to wear. So yes, I am very grateful for that. However, it would be nice to be able to take a break and not have an even bigger pile waiting for me after. Well…..a girl can dream right?!? 🙂 Now that we have been in our house a little over two years, we are slowly checking off items from the hubby-do-list. Not quite as quickly as I’m adding them, but at least it’s progress right? 🙂 Laundry room Close to…

Faux floating shelves in master bathroom. Our home Hey friends! As some of you know, we moved into our first home a couple years ago. We LOVE this house. I know many people get excited about getting a bigger house, and with that, larger square footage. For us, it’s less about the size, and more about the space. We were looking for a home that had rooms that fit our needs; and we found it through the help of a friend! The couple we bought the home from, we’ve since become friends with. They had done a fairly extensive renovation previously. So the home was already updated and extremely well taken care of. Because of that, we get to take on the fun projects to make it “ours”. So far we are having a ton of fun with that! Whether to my hubby’s excitement or dismay ( I’m not always…

My side of the office….I won’t show you hubby’s just yet 😉 I have always loved browsing through the gorgeous offices found on Pinterest. To be completely honest, opening a drawer on a beautiful custom desk, and having everything neat, is heaven to me. So when we decided to tackle our mini office renovation, you can bet I was excited! It was finally time to put all those office organizational pins I had saved on my Pinterest board to use! Otherwise, all too quickly, no matter how good our intentions, these fabulous drawers turn into multiple junk drawers! So if your office drawers could use some help….keep reading! I have some tips to share 🙂 First and foremost, it’s time to ‘KonMari’ the crap out of your office drawers. WAIT….I know what you are thinking! So before your click the “X” and move onto to the next blog….hear me out…

Have you ever noticed the common factor in the Pinterest photos that have magazine worthy rooms? They all have a similar element that you may not notice at first glance. But with certainty, if it was missing, the photo would not have the same impact on you. Hello greenery. They all have some sort of plant in every room. Ok, so now that I’ve told you….go take a look and see for yourself. I know you are curious :)But here is thing. For those of you that have a green thumb, I envy you. I wish my house could be full of live plants. Unfortunately, I am one of those people that can’t seem to keep plants alive. I have two fiddle leaf fig trees that I absolutely fell in love with from my favorite show ever, Fixer Upper. Of course…. I had to have one and so my husband…

How fun are these bicycle magnets? If you are looking for a quick and easy DIY project with your kids, a fun gift, or a way to spruce up your magnetic board….then then you need to give these magnets a try! A project that can be whipped out quickly is always a win in my book. Growing up with a mom that was a kindergarten teacher….and a great one may I add….we had an entire closet dedicated to art supplies and crafts. This small closet was set up with a kids table and little chairs pushed up against the back wall. The entire wall above the table held shelves full of endless craft possibilities and every possible craft supply you could imagine. Underneath that very bottom shelf was a light so those nights we couldn’t sleep, we could get up and get busy in that closet. On the inside of…

For the 1,000,000.00th time…..I asked you to go brush your teeth. Ever feel like you are asking your kids multiple times to do tasks that get completed every single day and shouldn’t need a reminder? The daily tasks such as brush teeth, comb hair, make your bed and all the others? That combined, after asking multiple times for each, you feel like you are about to pull your hair out? This responsibility chart has helped simplify and organize our daily routines and make the days more relaxed.I realized I was asking my kids the exact same things, all day, every day. It was exhausting, and we all were frustrated. I knew I wanted to do some sort of responsibility chart for them, not a chore chart. For our family, we felt that these jobs were daily responsibilities as being apart of our family, not chores. We wanted to place the…
