Transforming a retired school bus to a house-on-wheels is about to be added to the list of crazy projects we have taken on. My handy hubby and I have always loved DIY projects. Taking an old or outdated item and transforming it into something beautiful is addicting! Plus is all honestly, it has allowed us to achieve the exact size and look that we what. Thus resulting in beautiful, customized pieces. We have spent the last couple of years tackling projects in our first home here in Montana. Now, we are ready to take on the mini version of that, and create a house on wheels with this school bus conversion! Remember when… Who else remembers climbing those tall metal steps of the school bus as a kid? Either daily as a way to get to and from school or as the occasional school trip? These 30,000-pound school buses are…

Photo: Christianhorz As an entrepreneur, I’ve been working from home for the last six years in addition to running our household, kiddos, and circus of animals. Then about a year ago, my husband also made the switch and began working from home as well. So if you find yourself in a new situation working from home and wondering how the heck you are supposed to get anything done with kids around, you are not alone! This is a valid question and concern! However, through our trial and errors, we have compiled a list of ways in which you can make working from home with kids a great experience and not only reap the benefits of it, but actually be productive! With my husband working remotely for a large company in California, his workdays are full of conference calls, team collaboration, and meetings. All of which require a lot of focus…

I know, I know. If you are anything like me, or like the crazy summer weather we have had here in Montana, summer feels like it literally just started a week ago. So the idea of even thinking ahead to fall doesn’t interest me in the least right now. However, as much as I try and avoid it, ignore the Christmas decorations in Joanns or the enormous inflatable snowman that I saw in front of a local car dealership today (Yes, it’s July!), I know that avoidance will come back to bite me in the butt and cause undue stress. But no worries, I’ve done the searching for you to help you quickly take care of the fall back to school essentials so you can jump right back into enjoying your summer! Here is my top list of back to school essentials that will help you and your family to…

Things that make my life easier. Oh, this could be a book! There are so many little items that combined help to make crazy mama life a little easier! I’m hoping that through my trial and error, I can help weed out some of the extras and instead steer you straight towards my very favorites! These are my top 10 favorite kitchen items that help me organize my busy family life! Top 10 kitchen items 1. Breville espresso machine Coffee is life in my house. In fact, my kids know they don’t talk to mama in the morning until I’ve had my morning coffee. If you love coffee, steamed milk, hot chocolate; then you need this machine. Is it a $20 coffee pot; no. But if you were to sit down and calculate how often you run through the Starbucks drive-through, and how much you spend buying drinks out a…

Let’s be brutally honest here for a second, shall we?? I love DIY projects….but I can’t stand sanding! I will do anything to avoid sanding, and many a time, I have paid the price for skimping on this step. So when I found a paint that doesn’t require a ton of prep, you can bet I needed to give it a try! This paint is the perfect way to update a piece of furniture that is in need of a face-lift without the time commitment required by most other paints! Craft room work area I am all about functionality over the actual size of a house. Personally, I would prefer to have the perfect layout and rooms that fit my families needs and interests, rather than just a huge house. So I was thrilled about the fact that our home has a large space downstairs for us to do projects!…

This list will help you create a space for kids that is well thought out and designed with them and their interests in mind. Hopefully, these items will help you create a fun playroom and a space they will utilize. Which, also means, mama gets a break 🙂 So while every kid may have different interests, this is the list you need to get started! These 15 items will help create a special space for them that they actually will want to spend time in 🙂 My top 15 1. Twinkly fairy lights https://amzn.to/2EvT5d0https://amzn.to/2YOGcCnhttps://amzn.to/2EtXD3q Boy or girl…your kids will love you forever if you put these twinkle fairy lights in a play area 🙂 Especially if you get these ones that can change brightness 😉 I love that they come in a variety of colors and that you can put them up anywhere! From inside of a playroom tent, to…

“I’m bored! There is nothing to do”. I can’t be the only parent that hears these phrases ALL. THE. TIME?!?!? Please say I’m not…otherwise we have some serious boot camps to attend in this house 😉 However, if this is an all too common phrase in your house as well, keep on reading to find out tried and true tricks from a retired Kindergarten teacher on how to get your kids to play with their toys! So while I think it is beneficial for kid’s to feel “bored” and learn how to play without the instantaneous gratification that comes with technology-related entertainment, I for one would not mind less of the complaining or fighting 🙂 The reality of it At one time or another, I think we can all say that we go through this phase in our houses. With summer break about a month underway, I’ve been picking my…

Let’s talk toys, shall we? I love listening to my kids’ creative games they come up with while playing with their toys. I love that they can take just about any little McDonald’s figurine and turn it into the most elaborate play. However, I am not a fan of the mess that comes along with it and stepping on those darn legos at 2 A.M. when I’m up to feed the baby in the dark. Yes, I understand part of that comes with the territory of having children and having kids that play. However, I have to live here too. Plus when my home is my office as well, I’ve been searching for a way to control the chaos of all the toys we have scattered all over the house without interfering with their creative play. Advice from a retired Kindergarten teacher of 25+ years With the help of my…

I don’t know about you, but with summer fast approaching I’m on the search for delicious, easy and refreshing drink recipes. I’ve had Pinterest boards for years now with the most amazing looking drinks, and yet each year, summer passes by all too quickly and I haven’t tried a single one! This year I’m going to switch it up and start actually trying all those yummy looking drink recipes I’ve pinned. So fortunately for you, I’ll be playing guinea pig and doing the testing for you 🙂 Well, in all honesty, handy hubby will be helping me out on that end 😉 I will be posting both the successes that you want to add to your “go-to” list for summer drinks and also the major flops that our testing will save you the time and money from making 🙂 So make sure to subscribe to tidymo.com so you are the…

If you live anywhere that compares to home for me, Montana….then our weather is just finally starting to look up! It’s May, which hopefully means the snow is gone and we can start to dream of sunshine and summer weather 🙂 With that comes the need to find some new and refreshing summer drinks! Brazilian Ice tea This is the best ice tea recipe I’ve tried. It’s a Brazilian ice tea, and they know food and drinks 😉 Just take a look at this Brazilian cheesy bread recipe, or this amazing superfruit, acai smoothie bowl recipe and you will see what I mean! Matte, as it is called in Brazil, can be found everywhere. In a country where winter temperatures feel like our summer ;), this is often found at little food kiosks on the street, in the subway, restaurants, or my favorite, on the beach! Simple and easy, this…

Dream Bathroom I can’t be the only one that has Pinterest boards of their dream bathroom right?!?! Or at least the idea in your head of exactly what it would be like? 😉 While that might not be in the cards right now, this quick fix is a simple and a fast way to make a difference and update your bathroom! 5 Things they always notice about your bathroom Funny but true; when someone uses your bathroom, they become very observant. How clean it is, whether there are dust bunnies in the corner, if the shower is clean, if that shirt actually made it to the laundry bin, or if it ended up on the floor, etc 😉 Even more so if it is your house! Have you ever paid attention to what catches your eye? 🙂 There are five main points that will stand out when someone walks in:…

Over the last six years, I’ve done it all when it comes to throwing a kids birthday party. Some, I’ve gone full out Pinterest mom and planned for months in advance. While others I’ve literally pulled out of my behind days before with the help of Target and Amazon Prime. Others are a healthy mix of the two 🙂 Through a lot of trial and error, I’ve found (what I consider to be) the perfect “recipe” for throwing a kids birthday party without the stress! My favorite tip is purchasing the main reusable items and storing them in labeled, clear plastic bins. It saves so much time and money in the long run because you can go “shopping in your garage” for what you need. It is the perfect way to reduce the stress that can surround birthday parties and instead put the emphasis on what matters, the memories and…

I love chalkboards and the variety of uses they have! From providing a place to hang your kiddo’s artwork, hanging those holiday cards or creating a responsibility chart for your kids….they are a do it all item! We have been working on creating an under the stairs playhouse for our kids over the last year. Finally, we have reached the point that we are getting to decorate it with them. Apparently, we aren’t moving fast enough, because I went in the other day to hang up these awesome globe lights, and found that my four-year-old had turned the walls and ceiling into her canvas. There were marker drawings everywhere. She said it was too “boring” in there and so she “decorated” it. So I decided it was time to get something in there for them to draw on and decorate, rather than the walls 🙂 You can buy a chalkboard…

As of now, we have two girls in this room. Soon enough will come the newest project to fit three 🙂 Before we even closed on our current house, I had compiled a variety of ideas from Pinterest, to a board with ideas for kids bedrooms. With four kiddos, and just a three bedroom home, we’ve had to get creative with room sharing that not only was functional but looked just right 🙂 Lucky I have a handy hubby that can fullfill my Pinterest wish list 🙂 Classic + timeless style I’ve always loved kids bedrooms that are cute, and fun, but not Paw Patrol or Barbie. I love a classic kids bedroom….think Pottery Barn style; that can grow with them as they get bigger with minor updates as they age and their interests change. So along these lines, I knew that I wanted to paint the rooms the same…

How many times have you offered tea to someone; whether a member of your family or a guest as something to drink? But maybe in the back of your head you are hoping they say “no thanks”, because heaven forbid if they say yes and ask what options you have; game over. Because that requires opening the cupboard and pulling out every box that is shoved in there 🙂 Sound familiar? It’s April 1st, which for whatever reason is always the time of year I start my spring purging and cleaning! So while I love decorative projects, I also love these quick and easy organizational projects that simplify and make day to day life easier. Clear + Stack-able tea box So, I’ve found the perfect product to organize all your tea bags, eliminate the boxes and allow you to quickly know what you have! Let me introduce you to your…
