I love the color palette for this unicorn birthday! I LOVE birthdays! Twenty-some-odd years later, and I still can vividly remember my birthdays growing up. My parents did so much to make it a special day for both my sister and me. So many little details that combined, made lasting memories that I have taken to use with my kids now. I can remember walking through the doorway covered in paper streamers, into the kitchen for birthday breakfast. A fabric banner with my name that my mom made was always hung, the table set with special dishes, flowers and my favorite part, my birthday breakfast cereal. Birthday breakfast cereal tradition We never got sweet cereal. NEVER! But once a year, we got to go to the grocery store with my mom and choose any box we wanted. Our birthday morning, we would come down to the kitchen to find it…

When life is busy with work, kids and all the other responsibilities that come along with being an adult, you need to have those few staple recipes that can be used in several different meals. This allows you to make a large batch, saving you precious time while also giving you enough to both use and freeze! Or the perfect dinner to deliver to someone! You can bet I always have gallon bags of sauce waiting in my freezer to be pulled out at a moments notice. Because yes, I may be good at organizing my house. But when it comes to dinner, I’m the one staring at my open fridge every night at 5 pm wondering what we are going to have for dinner that night. 🙂 Italian tomato sauce, aka Daddy’s best spaghetti sauce ever, is one of those go-to’s for me! I usually triple the batch which…

The warmer weather is finally on it’s way (if you live anywhere cold like we do in Montana)! Fingers crossed 😉 As soon as it starts to warm up, my morning coffee switches from a hot latte, to an iced latte. Instead of hot tea, I make our favorite iced tea; Brazilian matte. And I say hello to smoothies! If I could only live off a few items for the rest of my life; it would be fruit, bread, cheese, wine, and coffee 🙂 So I love this time of year when Costco starts to fill up with all the seasonal fruit and we get to start having smoothies! There are so many good smoothie recipes out there. They are a great way to get both fruit and veggie servings in one cup and delicious at the same time. While I love any type of smoothie, my favorite are acai…

I am so excited to share this delicious and authentic acai recipe with you! Before traveling to Brazil, I had never tried acai before. In fact, I hadn’t even heard of it! Now, we eat it every single day. And it is good enough that I get messages weekly asking me for the recipe. So I decided it would be worth sharing here so that everyone can enjoy it 🙂 Upon arriving in Rio de Janeiro, along with the yummy pão de queijo (Brazilian cheese bread) that I fell in love with; someone introduced me to this refreshing “smoothie.” And I couldn’t get enough of it! 🙂 I can’t tell you how many of my daily meals came from a combinatin of these two foods. Pão de queijo are small cheesy bread bites, and best eaten warm. On the other hand, acai is the most refreshing and filling snack or…

Just a little bit crunchy, with a hint of sweetness = best granola ever. Slightly crunchy and sweet granola topping your morning yogurt, in a bowl with milk, or sprinkled on top of a homemade açaí bowl with fresh fruit, is a perfect way to start the day or take a break for a snack. Until you go to your cupboard to grab it, and you’re fresh out. Then one of two options come up. Go to the grocery store, or try and convince the mini humans to eat something else when their mind is set on granola. Or preheat your oven and get ready to make your own! If you have been on the hunt for an easy, quick and yummy granola recipe, keep reading! My family has been a fan of granola for what seems like forever. Although I’ve never been a fan of the store-bought varieties. Flavors…

Maybe you’ve seen those yummy looking cheese bread balls rolling around Pinterest? You know, those amazing gluten-free balls that have the thin crust, with a gooey, cheesy inside from Brazil? Yup….those. Ever been wanting to make them at home? Because if you have, then keep reading! With just 3 ingredients, this recipe is extremely simple and easy:) How I discovered these tasty snacks Before traveling to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for my very first time back in 2009; I did what most of us do. I headed to Google and looked up what I needed to make sure to see, do and eat. Anyone else? Amongst the normal, was to eat pão-de-queijo, Brazilian cheese bread. Oh. My. Goodness. Google nailed it. These cheesy bread bites are amazing. I would walk around Copacabana near my hostel, and on many a corner, were these little “fast food” places. Except replace the burgers…
